The “Two-Minute Rule for Energy”

We’ve all heard of the productivity version of the two-minute rule (if it takes less than two minutes, do it now). But here’s a twist that focuses on boosting your energy and mood:

The Energy Two-Minute Rule:

“If you feel sluggish, do something energizing for just two minutes.”

Instead of pushing through fatigue or procrastination, try one of these for just two minutes:

  • Jumping jacks or dancing to a favorite song
  • Cold water splash on your face or wrists
  • Step outside and take deep breaths
  • Power pose (stand tall, arms wide like a superhero)
  • Laugh—watch a 2-minute funny clip or recall a funny memory

Why it works:

It often leads to longer bursts of productivity or better mood.

It resets your nervous system and breaks the inertia of low energy.

Two minutes is non-intimidating, so you’re more likely to do it.
